Passports were originally papers that Kings and Queens gave to their subjects and favoured foreign travellers requesting they be allowed to travel freely about their business.

All passports will soon have computer chips and software for mapping facial features to help identify the passport holder's identity.

What will happen when facial transplants become the norm is anyone's guess!
