A hard workout, or any physical activity, can lead to your body becoming dehydrated. No matter how well hydrated you are at the beginning it is hard to drink enough water to keep hydrated during a workout.
It's not hard to keep yourself hydrated enough to finish but afterwards you'll still need to consume a lot of water.
Don't wait until you're thirsty to decide to take a drink. Your muscles need water to be able to function properly. If you wait till you're thirsty it is too late. Constantly taking water on board will give your body some fuel to work.
If you fail to get enough fluids into your body you will become dehydrated and your body will react with bouts of nausea and headaches. You will also feel a tightening of your muscles.
Check your urine to see if you are dehydrated. If its colour is a deep yellow then you are not hydrated. It's dark colour shows that your body is retaining fluids. If it's straw colour then that's good. If it's clear and looks like water then you are probably OK even though your bodies salts are depleted.
