Dear Daniel, My question is…
I would imagine that a much better razor blade may be possible if a 'memory metal' or titanium were used...
What is the BEST metal for a twin or triple-blade razor?
The best and most advanced cartridge blades in the world are made by Gillette.
To make a blade from a precious metal or any other material will be too expensive and may not be as good.
Stainless steel with a carbonised edge is used at present.
… and would really hot water help a distorted blade's edge to be somewhat restored?
Hot water only cleans and disinfects the blade. Hot water will actually expand the metal and therefore make the shaving edge more uneven.
